PM Sends "Peace" Message After Recalling the Bitter Past

Siem Reap: The Prime Minister of Cambodia, Hun Sen, sent a message urging the people to protect peace after remembering a bitter story.

Prime Minister wrote in his telegram on the morning of April 16 that today, 48 years ago, he lost one eye. The Prime Minister said that this war destroyed everything, including human lives.

The Prime Minister said that it is fortunate that he is alive and involved in building peace and maintaining peace for Cambodia for 48 years.

"Fortunately, I am still alive and have participated in building and maintaining peace," he said.

Forty-eight years later, people are happy with the peace in Cambodiayn mj5. "Keeping peace means keeping everything, including the lives of the people, that we must work together to keep this peace."

Speaking at the opening ceremony of Angkor Sangkranta on the morning of April 14, 2023 at the Bayon Temple in Siem Reap, Prime Minister Hun Sen said that due to the peace factor, Cambodia has been able to celebrate the Khmer New Year happily and smoothly, which is different from the time that Cambodia living with war.

"48 years ago, artillery shelled every city," he said.

Notably, the Khmer Republic collapsed on April 17, 1975, as Cambodia hosted the traditional Khmer New Year.

The fall of the Khmer Republic led Cambodia to a dark and war-torn regime until 1998. Peace was restored through the win-win policy of Prime Minister Hun Sen.
